I was an early skeptic, and rejected the idea of lockdowns or forced vaccinations. In my community, the mayor and her appointed director of health and human services decided to shut down all the bars and eateries. My response was to open our shop to Friday Afternoon Clubs. We had great conversations, cold beverages, and maintained a sense of community with our customers and other like minded folks. Guess how many of us died or faced severe illness from this "risky" behavior?

HINT: less than 1.

In my mind, this is how we defeat the overreach of government and squash the Karens of the world... have a good time and just be a little non compliant. Something about those afternoons with cold beers and good people maintained my faith in spite of the absolute calamity that society had become.

I play hockey and have a friend that owns a rink. For over a year, despite our league closing, I kept a pickup game going that some of us now affectionately call "COVID hockey". I can't explain how much organizing and playing that for that time period meant to me and to the guys who were brave enough to come out. We started at 11 pm and sometimes didn't leave until 3 or 4 am. We played until we were tired, then we just hung around and drank and solved all the world's problems. To this day, to a man (and woman) that played in those games, they were a bright light in a very dark time. I remember driving to the rink at one point early on and thinking "I'm actually basically an outlaw for driving and playing a hockey game indoors." It was the most absurd, infuriating thing, and it was all done for zero science.

Not one of the true believers I know has admitted being duped, or that they were wrong, or otherwise asked how I stayed strong & withstood all the pressure to get jabbed. Im not sure which ones are continuing to shoot up or have come to their senses & stopped because I don’t ask & really don’t care. I got accused early on by one of them & very sarcastically that I made my opinions very clear & often on the scam & after that I just thought to hell w/ it & w/ all of you

I've never invested much energy on what people do with their own bodies, despite how wildly and vigorously I disagree. But people sure seemed maniacal about what I did/do with mine, mostly the same "my body my choice" people. I don't want to see people die or become damaged, but especially at this point, if you continue to purchase this lemon, it's because you're simply a sucker who's given up your ability or desire to think critically and accept facts.

Completely agree! “My body, my choice” for that crowd has an irrefutable meaning when you’re slaughtering an innocent baby & a diabolical one if you’re selfishly killing granny if you refuse.

What I have found deeply ironic in the past few months are the admonishments that we now not criticize or laugh @ those who want to continue to wear masks. Even if I think it’s asinine, I’ve ALWAYS been for “Ill do me & you do you” but I was never afforded that consideration by the mask Karens & Kens circa 2020

Not necessarily in context, but: "And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet." Sometimes we just have to turn around and walk away.

"...many, many people will simply accept it and live in chronic sickness for the rest of their lives."

Not to mention, something even more addictive: Chronic fear.

Great post. :)

Also an early skeptic, I changed my life not one iota within my control. Seeing fewer shows was about the only real difference. Thankful to have already been a longtime listener/reader of people like Tom Woods, Pete Quinones, Vin Armani and Jeffrey Tucker. I remember Tucker on Pete's podcast in Spring '20 talking about the Diamond Princess and the curious case of Robert Glass and his daughter, Laura. I never feared a virus I knew would have little effect on me but it was damn hard to resist the anxiety and dread that accompanied the impossibility of it ending in 15 days. That first year was hard but I'm fortunate to have immediate family who either didn't fall for it at all or were reasonable about their "precautions." No one canceled holidays or refused contact. Some dutifully wore masks but more out of compliance than fear. (Still frustrating)

Husband, daughter and I tried to live as normally as possible and actually became a little healthier with lots of hiking in the absence of anything else to do that didn't require a snot rag over our face holes. As well, we're fortunate to live in a state with fewer restrictions. I remember a trip to Home Depot early on thinking "dang, I didn't have shopping without a mask as a revolutionary act on my bingo card." 🥴

Anyway, love your stack and slowly making my way through past articles. You have a gift and you had me at Goose. Then Rush. Whatttt 😍

"The consequences they now live with were not brought on solely by trust betrayed, but also by their own abdication of personal responsibility."

Very well said.
